Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Savly — from getting started and pricing to security, features, and how it compares to other budgeting tools.

Getting Started

No. Savly works entirely through manual imports. Export your transactions from your bank as CSV or Excel and upload them into Savly. Your banking login credentials are never required, so your accounts stay completely private.

Sign up for free at app.besavly.money, then import your first batch of transactions by uploading a CSV or Excel file from your bank. Savly's column mapper will match your file's format automatically. You can set up budget categories and savings goals straight away.

Pricing

Yes. Savly has a generous free tier that includes unlimited transactions, up to 4 budget categories, and 1 savings goal. You can use the free plan indefinitely with no time limit and no credit card required.

Savly Premium costs just £5.99 per month. It unlocks unlimited budget categories, custom categories, auto-categorisation rules, data export, the AI financial assistant, household sharing, and advanced analytics. There is no long-term commitment and you can cancel anytime.

Security & Privacy

Savly uses encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest. We never sell your information to third parties. Because Savly does not connect to your bank, your banking credentials are never shared. You can export or delete all your data at any time.

Yes. Savly is a privacy-first personal finance tool. It never asks for your bank login, never scrapes your accounts, and never shares data with advertisers. Your financial information stays under your control at all times.

The AI assistant is a Premium feature that lets you ask questions about your spending in plain English. For example, you can ask "How much did I spend on groceries last month?" or "What are my biggest expenses this year?" and get instant, accurate answers based on your transaction data.

Yes. Savly Premium includes household sharing, which lets you invite family members to a shared financial dashboard. Everyone sees the same transactions, budgets, and goals, making it easy to manage household finances together.

Yes. Premium users can export their full transaction history to Excel and CSV formats at any time. The export includes all dates, amounts, categories, and notes. You always own your data and can take it with you.

Platform & Compatibility

Yes. Savly is a web app that works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. It is fully responsive and optimised for mobile screens. There is no separate app to download — just visit app.besavly.money in your browser.

Comparisons

Savly is significantly cheaper than YNAB, supports more currencies out of the box, and does not require connecting your bank. YNAB is a mature tool with a strong community, but Savly offers a simpler, more privacy-focused alternative. See our detailed comparison for a full breakdown.

Yes. Since Mint shut down in early 2024, many users have been looking for a straightforward replacement. Savly offers transaction tracking, budgeting, and analytics without the ads or data selling that Mint was known for. You can import your old transaction history via CSV to get started quickly. See our Savly vs Mint page for more detail.

Business Use

Savly is designed for personal finance, but freelancers and sole traders often use it to separate business and personal expenses using custom categories. You can tag transactions, set up auto-categorisation rules, and export clean data for your accountant at tax time. It is not a replacement for full accounting software, but it works well for simple expense tracking. See our freelancers guide for more.
